(Senior) Applications Engineers – NeuCo, Inc.

NeuCo, Inc., www.neuco.net is the leading provider of optimization software solutions to the electric power industry, helping to reduce power plant emissions, increase fuel efficiency and improve equipment reliability.

NeuCo is a pioneer in applying neural network, model predictive control, expert system and first principle technologies to address the mounting pressures on electricity producers. NeuCo’s Boiler Optimization solutions streamline the combustion and soot blowing processes to reduce NOx emissions and improve efficiency and reliability, and its Unit Optimization solutions detect and help determine the cause, criticality and remediation of unit reliability, capacity and efficiency problems.  NeuCo has also been awarded a Department of Energy contract to develop additional solutions that affect and optimize mercury and multi-pollutant control.

Position Summary
NeuCo is actively seeking experienced applications engineers to join our growing team to lead open- and closed-loop optimization and simulation projects within NeuCo’s customer base in the power industry, support the creation of new products, and provide technical support to Sales. Applications Team members are experts on each of the technologies utilized in our products, and are expected to execute high quality projects and maintain customer satisfaction.


Primary Responsibilities (from the following):
- Deploy optimization solutions for the customer
- Participate in the establishment of technical objectives, work plans and schedules for projects
- Interface with third-party vendors for key tasks in the project plan
- Meet project deadlines and ensure quality; manage customer expectations
- Ensure timely project closeout: provide benefits, training, and documentation
- Ensure satisfied customer
- Issue regular progress reports to project team
- Interface with the Product Management group and other members of the Applications Engineering team to
- Improve current product design and engineering
- Improve installation processes
- Help guide the development of new products
- Provide technical support to Sales during all phases of the sales cycle
 
Requirements (from the following):
- BS (ME, EE or ChE) -- Advanced degrees would be a plus
- Based in Boston MA, Chardon OH, or Austin TX.
- 2+ years experience
- 25 – 50% travel
- Strong organizational, time management and multi-tasking skills
- Strong problem-solving and interpersonal skills
- Familiarity with computer hardware & Windows-based software
- Experience with data historians (PI, InSQL, others)
- Experience applying modeling, optimization, control and simulation technologies to industrial processes
- Experience with instrumentation & control systems (e.g. Bailey, Westinghouse, Foxboro)
- Experience in power plants: operations, performance engineering, control systems, etc.
