The CCPI II project at Limestone, sponsored by NeuCo & the DOE will demonstrate integrated instrumentation and advanced controls for mercury specie control at a coal-fired plant to achieve emissions reduction & efficiency improvement. As part of its continuing involvement with the PRB Coal User Group, NeuCo was a sponsor of the PRB 101 Web Conference on December 4, 2007. This web conference provided an overview of the requirements and considerations when burning PRB coal. Put off by Power Magazine and the PRB Coal User Group, it featured speakers from AEP and OPPD. Despite the absence of U.S. mandates on greenhouse gas emissions, many power producers are proactively responding to climate change pressures by engaging in voluntarily CO2 emissions reduction efforts. Unfortunately, the principle problem that these forward looking generators have encountered is a lack of viable solutions for reducing CO2. One readily available, proven approach to this is to improve boiler efficiency through combustion optimization.
