  The CCPI II project at Limestone, sponsored by NeuCo & the DOE will demonstrate integrated instrumentation and advanced controls for mercury specie control at a coal-fired plant to achieve emissions reduction & efficiency improvement.   Despite the absence of U.S. mandates on greenhouse gas emissions, many power producers are proactively responding to climate change pressures by engaging in voluntarily CO2 emissions reduction efforts. Unfortunately, the principle problem that these forward looking generators have encountered is a lack of viable solutions for reducing CO2. One readily available, proven approach to this is to improve boiler efficiency through combustion optimization.
